Against higher taxes and the high gasoline prices, farmers have a hard time calculating
German farmers had exemptions from vehicle taxes for their tractors and reduced taxes on diesel fuel. These were cut abruptly to finance the state budget.
However, this was just the tip of the iceberg. The regulations have become increasingly stricter in recent years, e.g. in fertilizer or land use regulations.
They have a hard time to compete on the european market where regulations in other countries are less strict.
