The government is the agent with the greatest ability to do harm & hence the importance of putting the greatest effort into restricting & checking the power of government

Sadly for decades now the west seems hell bent on the opposite eroding checks on government

I don't see any signs that will reverse anytime soon, pray for disorganized incompetent governments as they may be your only salvation.
