I’ve seen a few announcements like this

He lists a bunch of them in the beginning.

Give this guy a Kids Oscar for Drama, don't even think about it.

Good performance

Paradigm shift incoming. 🤫

I think it has something to do with the ever changing monetization models due to a recente switch in the YT leadership and even though being rich, they are slaves of the algo. I also saw a few like this. Some others tried to move to Nebula, but the adoption curve is ruthless.

If only there was a protocol that allowed you to build and hold your audience forever.

"slaves of the algo"

🎯💯

I am 37, i work in the automotive field. It sucks the life out of me and provides just barely for my family. I own land now, and am growing a business on it. Farming will be the death of me but its an antidote not a slow poison.

I had a viral video before youtube subscriber minimums. I destroyed all of my content when they stopped paying me. When you rely on a central platform you work for them. He mentions not wanting to be consumed by his craft at the dinner table ect. It doesn’t excite him it just like me working my fiat job.

The internet is changing, i Argue we have run the usefulness of centralized platforms.

Have you tried Flare yet?

No, I no longer do walk-around videos of vehicles I am trying to sell.

Fair enough!

"...it's an antidote not a slow poison."

Well said.

I'm 35 and about to go to school for plumbing. I'm a software engineer currently.

Working in tech is soul sucking, I have found.

Get an undergrad, work hard, save and flourish. I shunned the idea of a trade, even as my guidance counsellor in high school told me it was for me.

I would think you will be happier as you have to work in software, you get to do plumbing.

I have an undergrad. It's kind of hard for me to explain why I want to make the change.

In short, I don't think most technology is good and is, counterintuitively, harmful to human flourishing.

Like I don't think LLMs and Robots doing all work is going to have positive outcomes in the long run.

What kind of fruit is that?

That was a super long goodbye! I think 5 mins would have been fine.

Dude grew up. That's what happens when you age, you stop caring about the things you used to care about.

That's true too. But the algos are insane. If you're not live streaming 10h a day every day without break you're not gonna make it on twitch, for example.

Who is the person and why do we care?

How do you quantify “many”? And aren’t there millions of other Zoomers ready to take their place?

Can't imagine it fulfills most people to do this long term
