Twenty years ago, I was deeply immersed in the web usability field. I wrote extensively about it, offered heuristic analyses, and so forth. I also criticized the emerging field of commercial usability consultants a lot because they never applied what they preached on their own websites or showed little empathetic abilities.
It's nice to see that nothing has changed in that regard to this day. The majority, especially the big names, are still charlatans who have zero understanding of usability and cannot implement it.
It's no wonder; they have renamed the field to UX, which, for me, stands for 'user exploitation.' Because they were never serious advocates for the users but willing assistants to the tech companies, solely focused on manipulating the user to fulfill their business goals.
