the issue with combat flight simulators such as DCS and falcon BMS is that mapping a HOTAS (especially one that doesn't cost $600) is a complete and utter conundrum. take the f-16 for example, the real plane has like 5 hat switches on the control stick. my t.16000m only has one, so it very much becomes an issue of if you should try to make the setup as authentic as possible or if you should try map everything out in a way thats comfortable/a control flow that the plane would use IF it was designed around said joystick.
