They didn’t hear a word you said. In my experience boomers have a very hard time listening to others. If it’s about something new they don’t have a model for, even worse.
Just waiting for their turn to speak about what they want.
I don't fill silences with myself - that's something I find intolerable. They had opportunities to speak.
They're very nice people. My expressed impatience doesn't do them full justice. But its true - they don't even hear the new thing. It doesn't enter their reality.
This is how my dad is. Talking about something other than him or his interests and he pays zero attention, when you’re done speaking, immediately starts talking about his completely unrelated shit. Obnoxious trait.
