So the cheap radiator was predictably a bad idea. Didn't leak or kill anything, but the baffle between the inlet and outlet failed internally so water quit flowing through the radiator core and effectively became useless for cooling.

Hashboard was saved from a spicy death by an overtemp shutoff automation i put in home assistant.

Oh well. Waiting on a tried and true Alphacool ES T38 360mm radiator now.

New Alphacool radiator installed. Lesson learned, cheap radiators are shite. Even though this is a 360mm radiator vs the cheap 480mm it cools better with fewer fans and has overhead for more power. Packaging is also better as its smaller, so a win all around.

Radiator material is important. The Alphacool ES "Enterprise Solution" radiators are all aluminum, whereas most PC radiators are going to be copper. Most PC water blocks are copper these days, whereas hashboard water blocks are aluminum. You don't want to mix materials in your cooling loop or you will end up with galvanic corrosion eating your aluminum bits.

Have you ever tried something like using a heat exchanger instead of a radiator?

I want to use the miner to warm up water.

I haven't yet, but know people have and it works. if I had a hydronic setup in my house that's what I would have done.

Hm, I haven’t found anyone yet. Just knowing people who are using immersion cooling systems.

What I maybe also wanna try, but I wanted to start with water cooling first.
