I also worked in a (private) bank and quit after just one year. Although the pay was excellent and I had a very high position, I just couldn't take it.

Yes.. the pay is the biggest reason why most don’t leave. I honestly liked it when I first started out. Mainly because I had good coworkers though. It was unbearable once I went down the rabbit hole though. The day they felt they owned my medical decisions was the last straw for me.
I quit way before bitcoin back in 2002.
