I guess I'm a boomer, I still use XFCE 😂

i'm still stuck on i3wm..

I've never really given tiling managers a chance.

I think because I've never really needed a tiling manager. For my needs edge snapping is enough, a browser on half a screen, a couple terminals in the other. A majority of my time on a desktop is spent using GIMP or something similar where I want exclusive full screen anyway.

That's the beauty of Linux though. Choices 🤝🤙

This is one of the only respectable posts you've posted

Pretty much

But further over, you have "use TempleOS" and shit like that

Change the one on the right to KDE and it checks out

KDE is just gnome but kde

KDE makes sense, gnome makes drastic changes that don't make the desktop experience better, just different for no reason

I cannot tell a difference

Where does cinnamon fit?

I'm not so hardcore.

Cinnamon is better than gnome,

KDE is better than Cinnamon

Well... depends on your workflow, usecase and app usage.

Also it's not really fair to compare a WM with a DE.

There are pros and cons.

Tiling WM need much less resources and libraries, and therefore less potential vulnerabilities and security threats.

On the other hand WM keyboard shortcuts can break some specific application usage. Most applications are hard to use without floating window options.

Gnome on the other hand is imho often counterintuitive and not easy to customize without third party software.

KDE is built on Qt libraries which I personally try to avoid.
