I've always heard that we can share our NPUB but never our NSEC. As the NOSTR protocol matures and we see more apps, it seems that they all want my NSEC to give me more than "read-only" permissions. Primal is the perfect example.

Can someone talk a little bit more about this?

Your nsec is the key/pen that let's you sign everything that you do. It is part of the pair with your npub. You are free to look at everything, but if you want to interact, you must use your nsec to sign the interaction.

Ways to manage your nsec are developing. We're still really early.

I feel like I’m carelessly giving my SS # by entering my nsec.

It may very well be like that in the future.
