The sheer amount of hours it takes to make one of these forces me to understand just how much we take everything for granted.
This is the first garment I have that I will protect like no other just because of the labor it represents.

There are manually operated so called hand knitting machines for home use, that can speed the process up a lot. You can do one row in just seconds, but it may be less fun, because you're not as mobile. They are basically a flat row of hooks that hold the loops of a row of yarn for the thread to be knitted through.
