Interestingly, their next logical step after trying to block or ban VPNs is to do the same with any VPS service. As I said a while back, they will end up trying to replicate the CCP's GFW but they don't have the competence.

China banned Facebook and Google because they were caught spying on Chinese citizens.
Chinese people are encouraged to use VPNs and are still allowed to access these sites.
