In a survival/emergency situation where radio is your only form of communication, BTC can be used over HAM radio, but it's certainly not optimal. Cash is still king. Be sure to have both.

Yes. Have Bitcoin, Monero, and access to a stash of precious metals, and cash. But, ofc currency only matters if there's a functioning marketplace. Depending on the situation, precious metals, food, water, medicinal supplies, tools, and ammunition may become far more valuable than any currency.
Maybe booze with long shelf life like gin, vodka, whisky, whatever, would make for great barter items, but that's if you don't drink it first :)
Booze and tobacco would definitely make good barter items, but just like marijuanna, they are easier and faster to produce than homemade ammo.
