A blockchain-based decentralized YT is still better that the current one. Not perfect but better. And indeed if they only push their token, it's not great and I agree with you. They should at least provide stablecoins and an easy off-ramp.

I appreciate your thoughts. Here are some reasons why it isn't much better than YouTube, but for totally different reasons:
- a blockchain provides no trechnical benefit for a video hosting service. It's just VC buzzword fluff
- it is not decentralized (domain/web service is centralized, blockchain nodes are specialized and consolidated). Having the potential to be decentralized does not equal actually being decentralized.
- token conversion is a tax liability
- token puts earned value more at risk in volatile markets
- token introduces technical risks (defi hacks, wallet hacks, protocol hacks, etc.)
