This might be very cool for events, conferences... or for tips at merchants.
Yeah, that's the use case that is shaking out. You can stand up a private payment network with wallets. No cost for private transactions. Only when you want to clear out your lightning wallet to an address of another provider would you incur fees but that's just a lightning thing.
Users could be provisioned funds to spend. If they don't spend, they can just clear out to whatever Lightning address.

Sounds like a great tool to onboard those without smart phones, use it as an identity card as well, combining the two into a healthcare where drug/lab tests payments are loaded on it from subsidies (family, government) along with prescription and personal info which along with a paraphrase, would unlock that data one terminal at the hospital! Maybe? So cool still. Basically took over the tap tech and hack it to your needs 💪
