can you find sola scriptural in the bible?
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be COMPLETE, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
I capitalized an important word above
There are also warnings in the Bible about adding or taking away from what is said there.
yes, and those warnings appear in Deuteronomy and Revelation both. i think you misinterpret the passage from 2 Timothy, complete is an adjective describing the man of God, not describing the bible.
right so you can be complete, you don't need more than the Bible. How did I misinterpret it, I just posted the verse lol
your interpretation of the passage you quoted is the doctrine of sola scriptura. but that isn't how the majority of Christians over the last two millennia interpret it.
the fact that we can so easily have disagreements about how to interpret one passage is also evidence that the bible alone is not sufficient. you must have something or someone with authority outside of the bible to interpret it. if you leave that to each individual reader, you end up with tens of thousands of interpretations, all claiming to be bible believing
The man of God is complete with the Bible. I understand you are Catholic, that is fine, I know many loving Catholics who I am sure are saved. The Holy Spirit is what you need to interpret the Bible.
explain 30,000 bible believing denominations, though. is the holy spirit giving different interpretations?
