Japanese soldier Ishinosuke Uwano was presumed dead after World War II and declared deceased in 2000. Unbeknownst to his family, he had settled in Ukraine, married, had three children, and built a new life. In 2006, feeling homesick after six decades, 83-year-old Ishinosuke returned to Japan with his son, reuniting with his surviving family for the first time since the war.
