Right. A grant gets the project off the ground. Think of it as no-equity angel funding. Prove the idea and go for VC funding from there if that’s the best route. I believe this is the Spiral approach with their 1-year grants. Use it for liftoff, then find a viable path from there.

And I agree, V4V is not sustainable for most projects. Some grants have been for small projects, middleware, which wouldn’t ever become full businesses. V4V could help.
