If you pay property tax, you don’t own the property, you have a lease.

So true. Where is this not the case?
There’s around 20 countries with little to none property tax. But yes, the vast majority will take your land if you stop paying the lease agreement.
Taxes lead to slavery.
Only the army that takes the land truly owns it. Are you raising one?
Nope. Just dispelling misconceptions people may have on what it means to "own" something like property or land.
An admission that no one truly owns anything?
Philosophically, nothing is truly owned, we are just borrowing from the universe.
But to your question: do _you_ pay a recurring tax on everything you own otherwise it gets taken from you? Bet you don’t.
Any property sufficiently valuable requires financial upkeep:
- corporations
- intellectual property
- real estate
- cars
- passports or drivers licenses
Securities and equities don't, mostly because these are fractions of something which is already taxed. Despite the terminology, it's rare that anyone in civil society truly owns anything of consequence
Most of the financial "upkeep" you mention there is imposed in the form of taxation, not required for those to exist. Therefore it is an artificial and arbitrary upkeep. I do expect to pay to renew my passport or a VISA, since there’s people working on that so it could be used as revenue to pay for their services.
There’s plenty of countries where informal businesses thrive and don’t pay a dime to the government whose market make a significant portion of the entire economy.
Considering only what the elites have as something of consequence and only worthy talking about/considering is a really grim and narrow view which of course is going to leave a lot to be desired from an argument.
I don't control the world, I just try to understand it
Yes true 🤷♂️
This is why they need to abolish property taxes!! We only paid $35 for our 1.31 acres, but it's still rent!! 😔
The only reason other strong men honor claims of exclusivity for land use is because land taxes fund the government who will help defend the claim through physical force and a judicial system.
