If you are giving your dog an NSAID or prednisone and you want to switch to different one, there is a wash-out period of up to 2 weeks to make sure the first drug is gone before the second drug starts.

There is no wash-out period in humans.

Do we care more about our dogs than drug companies care about us?

It might be that the studies have been done on humans showing that we don't need one, but nobody funded such studies on dogs so for safety they have this washout period that they probably don't need. But I am just speculating.
