So people are being shadowbanned on nostr now.

I have mixed feelings.

5 people is definitely not enough.

That makes it far too easy to abuse.

The people being shadowbanned aren't even spammers, just people who speak their minds without self censoring.

This could create a culture of holding our tongues out of fear of being censored, like you find on traditional social media.

I find this failing for this reason: If I follow 10 people and 5 of them blocked someone, that's half of my trusted follows and their opinion might be valid. If I follow 400 and it's barely enough to have lively feed, 5 of those are barely acquaintances to me. They have their fights I don't care about, it's not happening under my radar.

Also it takes one hellthread to be treated as such. 5 to shadowban is seriously low number.

Come to think, I'd rather use a feature of unfollowing thread. Not to be mentioned in it, block it away, rather than blocking a user. May they speak their shit, just leave me out of it.
