I have experienced this very thing. The same price moves that make precious metal holders decide to sell makes the dealers uninterested in buying. Paper prices are NOT the same as street level physical trade prices.

The lack of places to spend or sell self custodied metals eventually dries up all the liquidity driving paper prices higher.
