Good evening Nostr,

My 11yr old boy has a budget of about $500 to spend on a laptop to use for his photography.

Just wondering what brands would be good for him?

Iโ€™ve always used Acers, my wife loves Mac but those are over $1k.

He really only needs it for photo storage and transferring photos and likely a bit of gaming.

Lenovo. IdeaPad.

Im currently doing my dev work on an 8 yr old ASUS. Decent brand. While I cant attest to it being able to play modern heavy 3D games, its quite sufficient at everything else. If you're like me on a super tight budget, may consider a second hand unit.

If i was getting something new on a budget and wanted to be able to play games, id consider something like this for 800

For sub 500, compromising some on memory, graphics power and slower framerates on latest games...

Actually, this would fit his needs pretty good based on your description for your price point. You're not going to be able to play AAA titles on anything less than $1000 though. Just FYI.
