First time building a deck.

Took 3x longer because of skipping the planning part, and having to improvise too much, but pretty satisfied with the result.

*After seeing the quality of the previous deck from the original builder, I'm afraid to use any of the other balconies here.

3X longer than what? This was your first time. 3X longer than a professional? 3X longer than you expected?

3x longer than it could have with better planning.

The positioning of the beam posts made it harder to attach rail posts. I should have just attached them on the outside and be done with it as well.

The size; if it would be 1 foot shorter on each side, I could have cut 1/2 of the railing posts, and also just buy the full panels instead of having to buy the hog wire fence, cut it, and assemble the frames for it manually.

But good lessons to learn.

I was also last minute talked out of having wider stairs. That's why the beams are so asymmetrical, and it will forever hurt my eyes ๐Ÿ˜…

I get it. I was a former architect and carpenter. Planning is key. Always have flex areas to buffer the plan vs actual.

Solid work.

Looks amazing!
