Even if people don’t want to run nodes on their own hardware, I don’t understand why you wouldn’t support a service like voltage where you could have them host a node for you but still hold your own keys and have more reliable uptime.

I don't need to have self custody of a tiny 200k sats balance. 🤣

I hold my own keys for my Phoenix wallet and coldcard.

It's not necessary for the little bit that gets zapped back and forth on Nostr.

Custodial services have lower fees for very small payments.

200k sats is about how much Bitcoin each person could have if it was eventually distributed

I agree with you that custodial is fine in certain situations as long as you understand the risks, I’m just arguing that there’s better ways to do it than Alby

I only use Alby as a Lightning address for my node and to keep a small reserve for zapping because of convenience, especially NWC functionality.
