"Still may syllabes jar with time,
Still may reason war with rhyme,
Resting never!"
A Fit of Rhyme Against Rhyme
Ben Jonson died #OTD in 1637. Apart from two tragedies, Sejanus and Catiline, Jonson's work for the public theatres was in comedy. The comedies of his middle career are for the most part city comedy. His late plays exhibit signs of an accommodation with the romantic tendencies of Elizabethan comedy.
