i've seen this at primorski park in Varna back in 2019, from the grid arrays on the lamps in the park, it's ugly, quite frankly

Yeah just reminded me of a point you made in our discussion of light, with a particularly nice illustration. Have def seen strange shadow effects from certain lamps before, that I assume were led

yeah, it's also not just the geometry of the light emitters it is also the fact that they are flickering, most of them between 50 and 120hz, just wave your hand past your face quickly and you'll see the judder

i hate these things, at minimum they should have 400hz or higher flicker rate

another thing is the common cheap chinese driver circuits for them are usually made with poor components and then they start flickering later on... some installations they are so bright it's blinding, i miss incandescent lamps

i swear i can't see as well under LED lamps as i can with natural light sources either, definitely, colours are all screwed up

Yes, that's what it was! The flickering thing. Think I saw them on some youth soccer playing fields and the whole area had the weird unpleasant effect

i'm pretty sure it makes it harder to play games like that too

You seem to know something about this. Is there someone talking about these effects? I’d like to know more.

For example:

I noticed that I encounter more micro-irritations with cars closing in while driving. The head lights auto-adjust to light conditions. And I for a micro second think: what was that? It‘s more exhausting than 10 years ago.

yeah, i am noticing more and more that visual things are giving me the WTF a lot more and more

it's really unsettling... i don't like being around cars at all these days, they all seem to be literally turning into some kind of horror movie monsters
