One of the most serious crimes you can commit in the statist fiat world is burning/destroying physical cash.

Dumbasses are burning their bitcoin and supposed "bitcoiners" are getting all riled up about it.

This isn't state money. If someone wants to burn their sats, it should be their right.

I'm just dumbfounded by their stupidity.

You're overly optimistic about mankind then.

I have to calibrate my expectations of my fellow men.

These morons shouldn't even have this amount of bitcoin.

Glad they're finally burning it.

It’s an ongoing issue potentially as the fiat printer is infinite

exactly. nature is healing.

When you say burning, do you mean those sats can no longer be spent on the blockchain?

They are creating outputs under the dust limit so in practice yes.

Also "burning" a lot in unneeded fees, though that just gets to miners.

I understand they are paying very high fees to miners. In my mind I view the ordinals as someone who has the equivalent of a hundred dollar bill, goes to the bank and pays to get the $100 in pennies. Then draws mustaches and dicks on the pennies, creating "art". Is this accurate? Are the "pennies" still spendable?

Not without paying pools out of band fees which surpass the values of those outputs.

Gotcha, thanks!

What if all this is the miners themselves? Minting in tiptop a ready for an upcoming wash trade in a bull run

Minting inscriptions *

Possible but unlikely. Miners cannot coordinate on this level. Pools don't control miners and still need to issue competitive payouts which can easily be audited from the produced blocks.

There are tons of independent miners, getting them onboard with something like this in secrecy does not sound realistic.
