i just want to give a shout out to nostr:npub17k64766yhzvhk2mws356dftl35lnkthjwq34gdz9cs8va3y9aejqwmhcd0 for alerting me to the concept of "mewing" which is a postural practice relating to putting the tongue up to cover the palate (the bone at the top of the mouth).

it's not complicated to do.

why this resonated with me so much was i realised that when i was in hyperalert states for various reasons and causes over the years, that i was mewing.

so, although i think it's important that it changes the growth pattern of the upper bones of the mouth, and this has an impact on the cheekbones and this has an impact on the eye sockets, i actually think there is a neuromuscular thing involved as well.

i am on fire with this new postural hygiene concept because i'm pretty sure that it increases mental focus. when i have had sharp mental focus, i was mewing.

i also noticed a few odd things in recent years with my self-assessed image of my facial attractiveness, that at times it has declined, a lot, in recent years.

the main thing had to do with the eyes, but secondary also the chin.

i'm pretty sure mewing improves the shape of both bone structures. so i'm going to be practising mewing for a while to see if my suspicion is right:

it makes your jaw more attractive

it makes your eyes more attractive

it induces a higher state of alertness in your brain that makes you more effective.

as i was getting rekt at chess this morning due a mistake i previously sought not to commit again, i thought how these type of reminders work in the sense of shoring habits even for the not so good looking ones such as smoking or breaking a pill... but indeed mewing helps breathing 😤

yes, i think that is part of the reason it increases alertness.

it also happens to seal up the mouth and causes you to nose-breathe more fully. so that might even be why it has this effect.

but what is interesting to me now i'm thinking about this, is because this creates some kind of involuntary tendency to breathe better, and i already knew that breathing could change your consciousness. thousands of years of yoga has proven this, but the thing of deliberately forcing yourself to do it, by mewing... this is new to me.
