Gossip needs a lot of setup, which is a shortcoming. We will be developing a setup wizard soon.

You need to follow people AT RELAYS or it can't find them. It doesn't do "global" so if you don't follow anybody you see nothing. And you need to tell it where to read in your configuration files (as write relays) and where to find other people's relay lists (as discovery relays). Then restart for good measure.
