Such a great film.

I remember watching an interview once that Robert Altman did and he says how Kubrick called him after he saw McCabe. He loved it but there was once scene that he just needed to know how Altman managed to shoot it — Warren Beatty smoking a cigar on the porch in the rain, in very low light again. Altman says he has no idea, just did it, and Kubrick was really annoyed, he just couldn’t get his head around that fact that Altman basically winged it!
