Really? Well, I'm definitely not a Leftist. I spent the last four years publishing exposés by independent journalists on the crimes and scandals of the Biden Harris admin... Now it's Trump's turn. But I'm not sure how that would work on Nostr with my posts offending the majority of the user base, which isn't fun for anyone.

(Hope you don't mind a long reply, not aimed at you at all, just expressing thoughts and interested in what others think.)

But that's just one issue. If I watch a geopolitical analysis on YouTube, for example, chat replies might be liberal, conservative, non-political, religious, atheist, random fringe, extremist, and everything else from people around the world... And that's exactly what I want to see. I can also more easily blend in and not be a troll magnet.

On Nostr, there's a noticeable presence of "America first," Right wing (moderate and otherwise), and even White Supremacists, even if that crowd is sort of swept into the corner. And with relatively narrow interests (Bitcoin, tech, and homesteading.) While like-minded communities are vital, so is a larger wide-ranging ecosystem to avoid a stale echo chamber which can be cruel to those who don't comply (like Bluesky). I also think it's outdated as the world moves toward multi-polarity and a global internet.

I love the whole non-censored premise of Nostr, and the community is kind and helpful through the painful onboarding, but after the honeymoon wears off, the isolated political bent is a fatal flaw for me personally, at least for now.

IMO the majority of nostr users are libertarian, which is great. You don’t need to be afraid to criticize Trump.

That's what I thought was true and wanted to be true, but would now say that isn't true at all.

"Although libertarianism originated as a form of anarchist or left-wing politics,[70][71] the development... resulted in libertarianism's being commonly associated with right-wing politics..." (Wiki)

Which brings me to my theory that the Right and Left are the same two-headed beast but that is a WHOLE OTHER topic.

While I LOVE that Nostr doesn't have an 'algorithmic filter-bubble,' that doesn't address the issue of the user base or potential user base which can cause the entire "uncensored decentralized" premise to collapse.

I’m not sure what you believe to be not true.

Wikipedia saying something is associated with the right is to be expected. After all wikipedia attracted young, western activists.

That a random guy on used nostr for a day and posted a comment is meaningless.

Check the global feed for yourself. I’m doing this for years. I see left, right and mostly libertarian posts. Check the big accounts and the accounts of the guys who develop and provide the infrastructure and those that get suggested during onboarding.
