I sometimes wonder if he is merely the illusion of a wildcard to capture that group of voters before a genuine outsider showed up and caused the RNC trouble. He accomplished a big fat 0 that wasn't already on the agenda of old guard republicans and I can't recall him making any real effort on any of his wilder platform points.
