Easy ways to sort good
* Oldest first
* Newest first
* Random
* Mixed order, e.g. a new reply followed by an old reply followed by a highly voted reply followed by a highly zapped reply
Advanced sorting methods
* Top voted/fastest voted, with a bias favoring newer posts, tuned to compensate for the head start older posts have
* Random until there's enough user data to sort the thread based on how much engagement the thread gets in different random tests, then still random for some users, to continue updating that data
* Detailed web of trust implementation where each user decides not only who to filter out, but also who to prioritize or deprioritize, with robust management features to expose and counteract manipulation
Bad sorting methods
* Most tipped / "zapped"
* Top voted, badly tuned
* Most replies (will promote ragebait)
* Testing-based, but looking for the "best posts" instead of trying to find the best overall sort order (don't suppress controversial or unpopular posts that low key contribute to the feed)
* Web of trust, but with nothing stopping gangstalkers or other bad actors from manipulating the system
