Always the same tactic. It's there. It's opt-in for now. One or two more versions, when no one talks about it anymore, suddenly it's opt-out. Or not even opt-out, but permanently included.

They anticipated resistance. Factored it in. They know how to play the long game.

Looks like client-side scanning will eventual come to all closed source OSes.

They've been trying to get it for years. Apple almost got away with mandatory scanning of your private photos that rats you out to the cops

Seems like the iOS18 update is introducing Apples’ version of Microsoft’s Recall. I’d still like to think Apple’s the lesser of the two evils but they are really accelerating the being permanently included goal.
