Plumber connect says go with wax ring. Tried and true. Previous toilet had a wax ring too.
Had to use a flange extension kit to bring the flange up near new floor level.
Just curious... I've been using silicon gaskets and they are WAY easier to work with and.... so far so good!

Good to know they are both suitable!
I'm sure the gaskets are a lot less sticky. I know it's just wax but it feels so awkward in your hand.
