Your assumptions are wrong. Modern battery management spreads the cycles across the individual cells - like wear leveling on an SSD.
The batteries are rated for 6,000 cycles - which is 16 years of constant daily use.
There's always an AC/DC/AC conversion loss. Ideally the battery would be directly coupled to the panels and then all our DC devices would run directly.
But those small losses are nothing compared to the money we save.
