I may have to bust out the old 10,000+ mAh power bank I used to use while playing Ingress. Thankfully now with USB-C the device will charge faster than Ingress drained it (which wasn't often the case with micro-usb, so you had to start charging well before you got too low just to stem the tide).

Massive government sponsored location data grab aside, that game was pretty fun in its heyday.

Just Googled Ingress 🤔

Very interesting, thanks.

Oh yea, it was Niantic's game before Pokemon Go, and frankly, was a much better game though less for the mass casual audience. We used to travel in packs 10-20 deep to blow up enemy farms, and go out on 'fielding' missions to take territory over vast chunks of land, and even got to building big networks of people to clear the way for links and establish those fields.

Even cooler, for a few 'anomaly' events they orchestrated a game that was not unlike a global game of soccer as links were used to transmit shards to goal points.

Even had a whole alternate reality game aspect to it too.

Still around but i don't believe it's more than a shadow of what it was in the early 2010's. That said, always depends on the area you play in.

I've been holding out hope for a gps enabled shadowrun equivalent...

I like the idea of a game that forces you to go outdoors 💜
