Maybe too obvious, but feels like the YouTube alt world hasn't found a secure platform. Much uncertainty about rumble (censored in Brazil), odysee, Bitchute etc. Maybe peertube solved this? 🤔

Video hosting requires a lot of disk space and network bandwidth. PeerTube in theory tries to get around this with WebTorrent. But its biggest failure is in ActivityPub as a protocol itself, because you get none of the advantages of it on PeerTube. It's just a sioled self-hosted video platform.
I think it seems a problem of deep pockets (do any of the alts have a long term business model?) and needing a 'good enough' amount of uncensorship. Tbh I'm surprised Elon hasn't just built a Video tab into X to compete with video alts.
