#Bitcoin  argument with a friend that couldn't understand how I could trust a system when I don't know who created it.

I told him: that's the point. I don't have to know, I just have to look at the math behind.

He said: yea but what if that person secretly controls the system and changes the math.

I said he can't because we all independently run our own version of the math.

He said yea but still what if the founder has some sort of secret trick.

I despair.

Is this really such a hard concept to grasp?
