You can not be arrested for offending politicians in specific. But personal attacks is seen as bad behaviour here. Therefor we have rules. Just the same as in real life. But on the internet all is tracked and can not be deleted.
Why should it be of any importance for freedom to be violent without consequences?
Buy the way federal depts expenses did only go up at a higher rate than before trump. And books are banned from schools and Elon Musk who is not elected by the people nor the parlament, is doing his best getting his hands on all tax payers information.
Better do something, if you would like to live in a democracy in the future too...
Government can not cut own expenses as effectively as an outside audit.
Can be true. But this outside entity needs some legitimation. And currently the only legitimation is, that Musk is loyal to Trump. Or what other legitimation is there?
I agree there's a "legitimacy" problem here. There's an entire agency called the GAO whose sole purpose it to do this kind of audit. Trump could have ramped this up, Musk could even have played some role in upgrading their tech, etc...
But "auditing" is more than just sending in a bunch of 19-year olds to download sensitive data. It's a process that involves trained professionals.

I think you are looking at this from ideology point. Put yourself in the shoes of the US taxpayer. Theyβll love getting tax refunds from cost-savings Musk did.

Well to be clear, based on the CBS reporting, there are statutes against "insulting" people online. Is it bad behavior? Sure. But there are real concerns with getting the State involved in these kinds of disputes...
