[Verse 1 – The Lie They Sell] They said if I gave, I’d never lack, That gold would line my every track. They twisted truth into a scheme, Said faith’s a coin to buy my dream. “Speak it, claim it, sow your seed — And heaven’s vaults will meet your greed.” But Christ said, pick up your cross, Not "cash in big so you won’t take loss."
Luke 9:23 — “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
[Chorus – The True Gospel] This gospel ain’t for sale — it’s blood and grace. Not health and wealth or a branded place. It’s scars and storms, it’s dying to self, Not using God to chase your wealth. Don’t twist His Word for earthly gain — He died in poverty, in pain. So take your Rolex off that stage — You won’t buy favor with your wage.
Matthew 6:19–20 — “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth... but store up treasures in heaven.”
[Verse 2 – The Cost of Truth] The Son of God had nowhere to sleep, No mansion throne, no gold to keep. He warned of wolves dressed up in fleece, Preaching riches instead of peace. He flipped their tables, called them thieves, Said widows' coins were not to seize. You quote your checkbook like a psalm, But Christ calls idols what you palm.
Matthew 8:20 — “Foxes have holes... but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” Matthew 21:13 — “You have made it a den of thieves.”
[Bridge – What It Really Means to Be Blessed] Blessed are the meek, the poor in heart, Not just those with a shopping cart. Blessed are the persecuted ones, Not those counting trust funds. Faith’s not a vending machine, It’s love when nothing’s clean. You want the crown without the nails — But that’s a gospel that always fails.
Matthew 5:3–12 — The Beatitudes. 1 Timothy 6:10 — “The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.”
[Final Chorus – His Glory, Not Mine] This gospel isn’t cash — it’s Calvary. It’s not about me — it’s setting me free. You can’t tithe your way past suffering, Or shout your way to a diamond ring. I’d rather suffer with Christ by my side, Than sell my soul for a private jet ride. So take your lies, your polished spell — The gospel I follow won’t sell.
Philippians 3:8 — “I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.”
[Outro] I’m rich in mercy, not in gold. I’ve got a Shepherd — not something sold. He bled, He broke, He paid it all — And that’s the gospel. That’s my call.
