Rumors. Let me just toss in one from my homeland.
1.5.1945 a local radio said the Nazis lost the war. The residents of city Přerov started to take confused soldiers' weapons and so on, happy the war is over. Long story short, Nazis weren't actually done yet, got enforcements, 32 dead and 21 executed afterwards.
