I installed the TestFlight app on the new phone after a full data transfer and used my PIN, but it just keeps “starting my node” forever without ever going into the interface.

No, that’s not supported. You have to uninstall, reinstall and restore from seed.

Yes, unfortunately. If you have your old device we recommend manually closing out the channels on there to save on close fees

Channels closed and more than 6 confirmations have gone. Funds moved on chain. Created a new wallet from my 24 words on my new phone, but not seeing any history or balance. Do I just need to wait?
Old lightning history won’t be restored, but your old on-chain history and balance should be.
The best way to restore it is to let the wallet run undisturbed upon wallet recovery. It will first sync the block headers, then a yellow sync bar will show to track your on-chain recovery status.
Closing the app interrupts the process.
