I have a friend who did nothing except buy some bitcoin a few years ago and leave it on Coinbase. Never sold a single sat. When it came time to finally withdraw to cold storage, they locked the account and it took about 3 months of back-and-forth providing more KYC and even being forced to buy and install anti-virus software (and provide receipts) before they would release the funds. Exchanges are a nightmare.
I’ve only had accounts on big exchanges and they seem to never have phone support. You’re telling me these people make $5 on every trade for thousands and thousands of people and can’t afford a god damn phone like gtfo!!!
Coinbase has phone support now. It was the only way we could find someone to help get the account unlocked.
You can always learn the hard way, but at least it sticks then.
