my son is on android and trying to get it figured out. Is it the same? do you have to do the personal and private keys like on IOS or is it all built in?

It's actually almost different #Nostr experience on open android vs closed ios.
But the keys are the same on the every Nostr client, your NSEC is the main thing you shloud secure like password and same for all clients if you want to use your main account. 😉
