Sorry, I misunderstood. Yes, that’s a different thing. Usually there should be an option in RTL to set the fee rate before you broadcast the transaction.

You can also try spending the unconfirmed UTXO output and do a “Child Pays For Parent” transaction to boost the fee rate of one which has already been broadcasted and get it confirmed faster.

I very rarely close channels, but there are definitely situations when it has to happen. In the future though, there are some good lightning to on chain swap services (Lightning Terminal is one I believe) which allow you to keep inbound liquidity but still move Bitcoin on-chain.

Thanks! Basically, the peer went offline around a month ago, so closing seemed the right thing to do.

I'm not desperate for the funds, so I guess I'll just hang out and see if it comes through eventually. And next time I have a better idea of what to pay attention to when closing channels.

I'm still curious if the channel close transaction on-chain is the only sign that the channel is closed, or if something similar is sent on lightning itself, because at around 18 sat/vbyte, it seems likely the transaction will be cleared from the mempool eventually. Guess I can go read some papers and/or source code to figure that out.

Again, thanks for the input.
