Bitcoin & LND

My node currently has no LN-Channels open. I'm too small to run a "good" node and unfortunately had to close my few channels at the end of last year. I've always had problems with Tor. My node was running Tor only.

The node ran really well for a while. I had good peers and managed to be a meaningful participant in the network with a small node. I had set the fees very low and was therefore "the friendly Hop in the neighborhood" 😅. But I'm just a little pleb and the problems with Tor made it really too risky for me. I'm just too small for a paid hybrid mode 😉.

But ... it's up an running and I like it 🤘!

What risk with TOR are you referring to? We're curious.

It feels like Tor is under an eternal DDoS attack. I kept getting disconnected and almost all (my few) channels were offline. Reboot works, but only for a short time and then it happened again (and again and again ...). That's when the first force closes came about. Luckily, the mempool was much emptier back then. But it was slowly becoming expensive and very, very time-consuming.

It seems you might have a system malfunction somewhere (not that we know what we're talking about).

Tor is annoying, yes, but not anywhere close to what you're describing.

I'm running Raspiblitz on a Raspberry Pi.

For the first experiences it's ok but for a "good" node it's not the best choice I think.

An old ThinkPad or a NUC would be much better.

But ... I'm not that technical and got not the time I would need to set it up and learn all the needed things.

Umbrel has an AMAZING app store but we felt it was too unstable. The RaspiBlitz is the best out of all that we tried but "best" is an overstatement here.

v1.9.0 runs stable so far.

Maybe I'll be back after the v1.10.0 release.

But only with a few channels for my own payments I think 😅.

We offer deals in incoming liquidity of 1m sat channels if you're in need of it.
