“Private groups on nostr” has so many proposals and proofs of concept by so many talented developers.

Yet nostr still does not have private groups. Why is that?

The problem is that “group privacy” (where members may come and go) doesn’t have an obvious solution in a decentralized “trustless” environment.

Most proposals try to solve the privacy problem by adding another “less bad” problem. None are perfect, yet all are vying for first place “official” nostr approved NIP.

This POC attempts to flood the network with fake traffic to obfuscate group messages. It’s clever, and worthy of zaps, but doesn’t seem scalable.
