Experimenting on a human being is an ethical discussion. This may be similar to what Neuralink or other less publicly visible companies are doing. How to take it? It will depend on the values โโof each one and each case. This case appears to fulfill the Hippocratic Oath.
Is eating meat analogous to this? When you eat meat you ingest animal tissue into your own body to sustain your life. If so, it's a newer and different method of an old practice.
